KARACHI – The post-mortem report of Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Farooq Sattar’s co-ordinator Aftab Ahmed has been released who died in the Rangers custody.
According to the reports sources, the autopsy report showed marks of bruises and scratches on his body. A four-member medical board carried out post mortem of Aftab Ahmed in the supervision of Magistrate Kaleemullah Kalhor.
The report stated that the deceased MQM worker tortured during the Rangers custody. It further said that the deep wounds were present on Aftab’s both thighs and heels while the assessment of the demise would be revealed after holding histopathological test.
However, no internal injury and collapsed bone were identified in the report. Earlier, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Rangers Director General Bilal Akbar ordered unbiased investigation into the matter. Rangers had taken Hussain in custody from his Federal B Area residence two days before his death.
Yesterday, a law officer representing the Rangers submitted the report about the death of Aftab Ahmed to an anti-terrorism court (ATC), saying that Aftab died due to cardiac arrest. The report said that when Aftab suffered a heart attack, he was rushed to a hospital where he died.
It was further said that the exact reason of the death would be determined after the issuance of the postmortem report. The officer further told the court that a high-level investigation committee has been set up in this regard.
