LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing has demanded the presence today of teenagers arrested on suspicion of playing the Blue Whale Challenge.
Parents of the suspects have also been summoned.
Shahid Hassan, the agency’s Cyber Crime Wing Deputy Director, said on Thursday, however, that the teenagers were playing a different game called ‘Snapshot’ which revolved around users challenging each other to different tasks and setting bets.
He further added that the teenagers had put their friend to the challenge of rescuing himself after tying him up from head to foot, taping his mouth shut and releasing a video of all of them doing such on a social networking site. He was then locked in the trunk of a car and assigned with the task of freeing himself and getting out.
Once the video surfaced online, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation sprung into action writing a letter to the government of Pakistan through Interpol, insisting on a request for information regarding the video.
The suspected teenagers, under 15 years of age, were nabbed by the FIA and taken into custody on directives of the Ministry of Interior. Special permission will be taken from DG FIA for their arrest.
