LAHORE: Chinese engineers working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), who assaulted police officials in Khanewal, were on Tuesday deported.
The five Chinese nationals were deported after Multan’s commissioner Bilal Ahmed Butt submitted an inquiry report before Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal.
The foreign nationals were transported to Lahore via special cars, from where they were deported in special planes.
Chinese engineers had last week assaulted police in Khanewal after they were not allowed to leave the camp.
According to the police, the Chinese nationals thrashed the security officials for refusing to let them go to a ‘red light’ area.
